Professor Albert from Germany shared his expertise during his voluntary work at the People's Hospital in Binhai County, Yancheng City.
Earlier this month, he began towork for three weeks in China after he was sent by the Senior Experten Service (SES), Germany's leading volunteering organization for experts and executives who are either retired or taking some time off work.
He cooperated with other surgeons in the hospital to quickly develop the best surgery plan and completed the operation for Ma Jinming, who suffered a rib fracture badly after falling from a height a few days ago.
Ma, 59, said excitedly that the German expert was warmhearted and visited and talked to him every day after the surgery.
Albert said that this is his first time to China and he only knew China from news in the past. He also said although he can’t understand Chinese, but he had sound cooperation with Chinese counterparts because medicine knows no borders.
Dai Jiahong, director of the hospital’s thoracic surgery department, said Professor Albert has brought new knowledge and new ideas to the department, whichhelps narrow the gap withworld’s advanced practices.
