The city of Nanjing is scheduled to hold a public hearing on December 6th concerning the bus and metro fare ratehikes next year, the city’s price control authority said Wednesday on its website.
21 people have been invited to attend the hearing. They include 11 consumers, 1 businessperson, 2 scholars, 1 local legislator, 4 government officials and 1 person of interest to the hearing.
Compared with the current Nanjing metro fare, the two plans for fare rate adjustments have remained unchanged with the starting fare fixed at 2 yuan. Adjustment will be made on the starting ride and the additional ride. The distance-based metro fare rates will start with 2 yuan that covers 4 kilometers for one ride with 1 yuan to be added to a further ride of six kilometers.
In the meantime, the city is also expected to hike its bus fare rates next year. The bonus bus fare rate for transfer from bus to metro will remain unchanged. The bonus fare rate for transfer from metro to bus, trams and ferries will be hiked from 1 yuan per person per ride to 1.6 yuan.
