Jiangsu's foreign trade up by 9.3% in Q1-Q3

  Nanjing Customs announced recently that in the first three quarters of this year, Jiangsu Province achieved imports and exports of 3.203 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.3 percent year on year.

  Exports grew by 7.1 percent to 1.924 trillion yuan, and imports reached about 1.279 trillion yuan, a rise of 12.8 percent. In the period, Jiangsu's foreign trade accounted for 14.4 percent of the country's total.

  Jiangsu foreign trade maintained rapid growth despite a large base in the same period last year.

  Jiangsu’s five major import and export partners were the United States, EU, ASEAN, South Korea and Japan, as trade with these regions accounted for 64.6 percent of the total in the province. Jiangsu also saw a rapid trade growth with countries along the “Belt and Road” initiative.

  Among various enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises saw their dominant roles in trade weakened, and both private and state-owned enterprises reported quick growth in imports and exports.

  Imports of some mechanical and electrical products such as integrated circuits grew rapidly in the period, and the amount of imported bulk commodities such as iron ore, soybeans and liquefied gas increased too.
