Nanjing's first “smart restaurant” is on trial sale at a large shopping mall in Hexi District, Oct. 31, 2018. In the restaurant, every process including ordering and paying the bill is done through an APP on your phone. No waiter is needed in the restaurant.
A dozen square tables and chairs, a dining cabinet, constitute this unmanned restaurant. If you want to eat here, you do not need to line up. Scan the QR code and you can order on your phone. During the order process, the system will automatically sort the menus according to your past consumption preferences, while making appropriate recommendations for discounts.
The 24 self-service cabinets in the restaurant replaced the original method of serving meals. After the restaurant has prepared the meal, the chef will put the food into the cabinet. Then the system will automatically push the information to your phone. You click the button on the cabinet and take the food by yourself. After the meal is finished, you can deliver the tray to the recycling area. The process is as simple as turning on the microwave in your kitchen and taking food out.
