The total length of the express highway network will have reached about 6,666 kilometers by the end of 2035, according to a press conference held by the provincial department of transportation on Wednesday.

According to the Jiangsu Province Expressway Network Plan, the province's expressway network will adopt a layout scheme combining radiation and vertical and horizontal grids.

The total length of the express highway network will have reached about 6,666 kilometers by the end of 2035, according to the plan.

23 new express highways will be built to add 1230 kilometers to the expressway network.

15 radiating roads will be built around Nanjing to lead up to varied destinations.

4 cross-Yangtze expressway passages will be built at various locations.

Jiangsu will have built 35 airports by the end of 2035 with a total of 70 airports planned in the long run. 10 airports will be planned at the regional level and 60 at the prefectural level so that flights will reach major cities in the province in 15 minutes.

By 2035, the province's mainline water channel network will form a "two vertical and five horizontal" layout, with the Yangtze River trunk line and the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal as the core, and the third-level and above waterways as the backbone, and the thousand-tonnage ships as the trunk line network.

According to the Jiangsu Province Inland River Port Layout Plan, the inland river port of the province is divided into three levels: the national main port, the regional port and the small port. The province will focus on the development of three core inland container transport channels from North Jiangsu to Lianyungang Port, North Jiangsu to Taicang Port, and South Jiangsu to Taicang Port.
