China registered 154000 practicing pediatricians at the end of last year, the National Health Commission said at a press conference.
The country installed 19 new children’s hospitals last year. More than 20000 comprehensive hospitals have offered pediatrician services with 20000 ward beds added to the total.
28 universities have re-started or installed pediatrician degree programs in a bid to enroll more students.
In-service training for pediatricians has been intensified across the country.
The number of practicing pediatricians in China totaled 154000, representing 0.63 for every practicing doctors.
Efforts have been made to raise the fee charging standards for medical services such as examination operations and clinical surgical treatment in pediatric clinical diagnosis so as to reflect the value of pediatric medical staff's technical labor services.
In the meantime, China has rescued 4236 children with leukemia. The rate of reimbursement of medical expenses for leukemic children has risen from 49% in February 2017 to 81% in September 2018.
