  The consumer price index in Jiangsu reached 103 in September, up 3.0% year on year and setting a new high in 52 months. This is also the first time the growth of CPI surpassed 3% since the start of this year.

  In September, the prices of eight categories of goods and services recorded slight growth year on year. Among them, the price of food and tobacco increased by 3.6%. The price of non-food and tobacco and alcohol rose by 2.8%. The price of consumer goods rose by 3.6%, and that of the service sector rose by 2.1%. From January to September, the province’s CPC rose by 2.2% over the same period of the previous year.

  The rain and snow in January, the typhoons and rainfalls in July and August exerted a great impact on vegetable production and transportation in the main producing areas. In September, the price of fresh vegetables rose by 13.7%. The prices of pork and aquatic products fell again following the decline in July.

  The prices of household goods and services and transportation and communication prices rose by a high of 3.8%. In addition, the price per liter of gasoline increased by 21.1% and 21.2% respectively compared with September of last year.
