The 2018 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference opened in Nanjing on Friday. Governor Wu Zhenglong attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Meng Qinghai, Vice Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, delivered speeches respectively.
The event is co-sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and China Association for Science and Technology.
Wu Zhenglong said that at present, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation are gaining momentum, and intelligent manufacturing has become the core of future manufacturing development.
He said Jiangsu has a relatively solid manufacturing base and a relatively complete industrial system, and is now standing at an important juncture in transition and upgrading, adding that the development of intelligent manufacturing is of great significance for accelerating the industry's move to the mid-to-high end, building an independent and controllable advanced manufacturing system, and ensuring that its high-quality development ranks at the forefront of the country.
The Governor noted that in recent years, Jiangsu has made unremitting efforts to implement the strategy of strengthening the country by manufacturing and become a hot spot for smart manufacturing.
Entering the new era, smart manufacturing will inject strong momentum into achieving high quality development in Jiangsu, he said.
Guided by Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, we will follow the trend of global industrial development, focus on improving key core technology innovation capabilities, accelerate the cultivation of advanced manufacturing clusters with international competitiveness, and continue to promote the intelligent transformation of traditional manufacturing industries by strengthening the construction of platform carriers, put the intelligent "brains" on the manufacturing industry so as to build Jiangsu into a world of intelligent manufacturing highlands.
He noted that Jiangsu will use the World Smart Manufacturing Conference as a platform and link to better promote smart manufacturing and empower the economy, adding that Jiangsu sincerely invites outstanding talents from home and abroad to launch business endeavors in the province through innovation and entrepreneurship.
Jiangsu also extends warm welcome to global smart manufacturing enterprises for their investment initiatives in Jiangsu so as to jointly write a new chapter in the high quality development of the intelligent manufacturing in the new era and the construction of a new Jiangsu.
Xin Guobin said that the development of intelligent manufacturing is a long-term strategic task that will continue to strengthen innovation drive, system construction, personnel training and international cooperation.
Zhong Zhihua said that the Chinese Academy of Engineering will focus on new needs around the new strategy and carry out in-depth cooperation with Jiangsu to jointly promote the development of intelligent manufacturing.
Meng Qinghai said that the China Association for Science and Technology will bring together high-end resources to help Jiangsu build a globally influential industrial technology innovation center and an internationally competitive advanced manufacturing base.
Zhang Jinghua, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
Present at the opening ceremony were Deputy Governor Ma Qiulin, Nanjing Mayor Lan Shaomin, Provincial Government Secretary-General Chen Jiangang, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, representatives of leading intelligent manufacturing enterprises and authoritative institutions, and experts in the field of intelligence.
