A symposium was held Thursday afternoon in Nanjing to address the issues concerning Jiangsu’s paired assistance in Qinghai and the exchange and cooperation between the two provinces.
The party and government delegation from northwest China’s Qinghai Province visited Jiangsu on October 11th and 12th. The delegation was headed by Wang Jianjun, Qinghai Provincial Party Committee Secretary and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress and Liu Ning, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Qinghai.
Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu, and Huang Lixin, chairwoman of the Provincial Committee of CPPCC, attended the symposium.
On behalf of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, Lou Qinjian welcomed the visit of the party and government delegation of Qinghai Province. He said that Jiangsu and Qinghai are separated thousands of kilometers away by mountains and waters, but the Yangtze River connects the two provinces to enhance the cooperation between the two provinces through poverty alleviation and paired assistance programs.
He said the implementation of the paired assistance program is politically important as it is a major strategy of the central government.
We must further strengthen the cooperation in the major national strategies such as the construction of the "Belt and Road" and the development of the economic belt of the Yangtze River so as to develop our strengths and complement each other and achieve mutually beneficial development, he said.
On behalf of the Qinghai Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government and the people of all ethnic groups in the province, Wang Jianjun expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Jiangsu Province for its selfless assistance to Qinghai over the years.
He said that the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government attaches great importance to the paired assistance support and poverty alleviation cooperation, focusing on financial assistance and material donation, taking the project construction and economic and trade cooperation as the carrier, and promoting the "Jiangsu model" with the goal of exchange and integration and common development with Qinghai through the launch of investment and livelihood projects in Hainan, Xining and Haidong regions, which has enabled the local people to get real benefits, and injected a strong impetus for Qinghai to win the battle against poverty.
Wu Zhenglong and Liu Ning gave a brief introduction to the social and economic development in the two provinces.
The Qinghai delegation visited schools, enterprises and research institutes during its stay in Jiangsu.
