Zhouzhuang sees tourism boom during National Day holiday

  Zhouzhuang, a renowned water town in East China's Jiangsu province, received nearly 400,000 visitors during the seven-day National Day holiday, according to local authorities.

  The attractions including Twin Bridges, Fu'an Bridge, Shen House, Zhang House, Nanhu Qiuyue Garden and Zhouzhaung Ancient Opera Stage were among most popular tourist destinations in the town.

  Boat tour of Zhouzhuang emerged as a hit program which was much favored by tourists. Statistics show that over 80,000 visitors toured the town on a traditional boat during the seven-day break.

  Meanwhile, the live-action show Zhouzhuang in Four Seasons, a visual and musical extravaganza that promises to allow visitors to get to know Zhouzhuang in just one night, were staged amid the holiday, selling more than 1,200 tickets.

  Based around a classic love story set during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the show has been a huge hit with audiences since it first debuted in 2007 thanks to its sumptuous visuals, including a stunning stage featuring small bridges, running rivers and riverside households.

  The holiday also coincided with the ongoing 2018 Cross-Straits (Kunshan) Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival. A total of 130-plus lantern sets adorned the water town, dazzling numerous visitors during the holiday.
