A high-ranking delegation headed by Governor Wu Zhenglong visited Germany from September 22nd to 26th. The delegation attended an investment forum launched by Jiangsu enterprises in Germany and the Jiangsu-Germany Open Innovation Cooperation Forum, met with officials from North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg, visited the Xugong European R&D Center and the Chinese Consulate General in Düsseldorf, inspected some well-known German enterprises and witnessed the signing of cooperation projects.
Wu Zhenglong visited Xugong European R&D Center to learn more about technical research and visit the R&D personnel. He said that the R&D center is a model of cooperation between Jiangsu and North Rhine-Westphalia, hoping that with the joint efforts, Xugong will become the world leader in the construction machinery industry.
Wu later met with the CEOs of some Jiangsu-invested enterprises in Germany, speaking highly of the efforts the enterprises have made in innovative explorations and set an example for the province’s transformation and upgrading.
Germany is a manufacturing powerhouse and Jiangsu has a solid manufacturing foundation, which promises strong potentials for cooperation and complementary gain, the governor said, adding that we must learn from each other at a higher level of openness for mutual benefit.
The Jiangsu-Germany Open Innovation Cooperation Forum was held in Düsseldorf on Monday. Wu Zhenglong expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests who attended the forum and expressed his gratitude to the people from all walks of life who have long been concerned about supporting the development of Jiangsu.
He said that this year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly provinces and states in Jiangsu and North Rhine-Westphalia. Monday coincides with the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, making the occasion both memorable and important.
The Governor noted that the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Chancellor Merkel in May this year clearly defined the development direction of Sino-German relations in the new era.
Jiangsu has a profound relationship with Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia, the governor said, hoping that both sides will make down-to-earth approaches, strengthen industrial cooperation, promote green development, expand trade and investment cooperation, boost people-to-people exchanges, and work together to propel the Belt and Road initiative for the promotion of cooperation more fruitful results and a better future.
North Rhine-Westphalia Finance Minister Lutz Lienenkämper attended the forum and delivered a speech. Senior executives from Suning, Xugong, Siemens, Phoenix and Byton spoke at the forum. 15 cooperation projects were signed.
On the same day, Wu Zhenglong also met with the Governor of North Rhine-Westphalia Raschet and the Minister of Economy Pinker Watt, and exchanged his views with the head of the Byton Automobile. Together with the Deputy Governor Steamp, Wu attended a dinner banquet celebrating the 30th anniversary of the sister relationship between Jiangsu and North Rhine-Westphalia.
When meeting with Raschet, Wu Zhenglong said that the friendship between Jiangsu and North Rhine-Westphalia is deeply rooted and fruitful. He hoped that the two sides will strive to be a model of Sino-German cooperation and win-win in the new era on the solid foundation and new starting point of friendly cooperation. Raschet said that his state will continue to expand and deepen the all-round exchanges and cooperation with Jiangsu.
On Tuesday, Wu Zhenglong met with Baden-Württemberg Minister of Economy Kraut and Environment Minister Wintersdale in Stuttgart, witnessing the signing of cooperation agreements between the relevant departments, scientific research institutions and enterprises on both sides, and attending the state government welcome dinner.
Wu Zhenglong said that the visit by the Jiangsu delegation is meant to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. It is hoped that Jiangsu and Baden-Württemberg will continue to strengthen the cooperation in industrial transformation, environmental protection, cultural tourism, Internet of Things and technological innovation.
Wu Zhenglong also inspected ThyssenKrupp, Festo, Bosch, SAP and other companies where he witnessed the project signing, and discussed with the company's CEOs to understand the latest developments of German Industry 4.0.
He said that German enterprises have technological advantages and brand advantages. Jiangsu has market advantages and cost advantages. It is hoped that both sides will give full play to their advantages and forge partnership to promote Jiangsu's industry to the mid-to-high end and achieve high-quality development in the open cooperation and win-win situation. The German enterprises said that they have achieved good results in investment in Jiangsu and will launch more advanced technologies and projects in Jiangsu.
Feng Haiyang, Consul General of China in Düsseldorf, Wang Shunqing, Consul General in Frankfurt, and Chen Jiangang, Secretary General of the Provincial Government of Jiangsu, were present during the meeting and visit.
