On the morning of the Sept. 26th, the Post Office themed with Garbage Classification was opened in Baburo Ecological Valley, Luhe District, Nanjing City. This is also the first post office featured with this them in Jiangsu Province. At the same time, this post office has issued five brands of themed postcards and 12 editions of personalized stamps. From now on, these products will be distributed to thousands of households through the purchase of citizens, tourists and mails, and will spread the knowledge and concept of garbage sorting to thousands of households.
This post office is divided into the theme philatelic product sales area and the garbage classification promotion area. The sales area mainly sells the theme stamps related to garbage classification, green environment protection, postcards and series of creative products; the Garbage Classification and Publicity Zone, through cooperation in Garbage Classification and Science Base with Luhe District, will create the Garbage Classification and Education Park by means of interactive games, knowledge lectures, garbage recycling and gifts exchange. "By developing a series of creative and popular products, we can spread the knowledge and ideas of garbage classification more widely, and make it more impressive." Luhe District Authority Director Ma Xiaofei said.
At present, 104 villages (communities) in Luhe District have all carried out garbage sorting work and covered the whole villages. Among them, 93 administrative villages have established the stores where people can exchange commodities with their points earned over garbage classification. 9 towns have completed 27 composting tanks and 8 composting farms. Zhuzhen Village reaches the daily treatment capacity of 2 tons of kitchen waste, and the garbage sorting stations of Longpao street and Zhuzhen village have been put into trial operation. In addition, Luhe District has also built three small Angel Kindergartens to guide children to participate in the practice of garbage classification, so that each child with their family can do a good job in garbage classification.
It is also known that Nanjing is carrying out a city-wide classification of domestic waste in different units, communities and households. Among them, 12 streets including Ninghai Road are to promote the whole-unit garbage classification, 12 agricultural markets throughout the city have installed small processors for fruit and vegetable garbage. By the end of this year, the percentage of residents participating in the implementation of waste classification in Nanjing should be above 50%, the utilization rate of municipal solid waste recycling should reach 20% and 35% by 2020.
