A symposium was held Tuesday in Urumqi, capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to address the hot issues concerning Jiangsu’s paired assistance program in Xinjiang to implement the central government's requirements for the work of Xinjiang.
Among the senior leaders attending the symposium were Chen Quanguo, CPC chief of Xinjiang, Lou Qinjian, CPC chief of Jiangsu, Shohrat Zakir, Chairman of the government of Xinjiang, and Sun Jinlong, CPC chief of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
On behalf of the Party Committee and Government of the Autonomous Region and the people of all ethnic groups in the autonomous region, Chen expressed his warm welcome to the party and government delegation of Jiangsu Province and expressed his sincere gratitude to Jiangsu Province for its long-term support and selfless support for Xinjiang.
Chen noted that the Party Committee and Government of Jiangsu and the Jiangsu people have placed high on the political agenda the paired assistance program in Xinjiang by sending outstanding officials and launch numerous investment projects that have contributed to the stable regional development in Xinjiang.
Chen said that under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the party committee and government of the autonomous region have united and led the officials and people of all ethnic groups in the region, and resolutely implemented the Party Central Committee's strategy of governing Xinjiang, especially the overall goal of social stability and long-term stability, which has promoted the maintenance of the overall situation in Xinjiang.
The CPC chief of Xinjiang said the autonomous region will conscientiously implement the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, resolutely uphold General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position, safeguard the authority and the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee so as to maintain social harmony and stability in Xinjiang.
He also remarked that Xinjiang will learn from Jiangsu’s advanced experiences, implement the new development concept, give full play to the advantages of the paired assistance program in Xinjiang, win the tough battles against pollution and poverty alleviation, unswervingly deepen reform for greater expansion and opening-up, and promote high-quality economic development so as to build a new Xinjiang with Chinese socialist characteristics and live up to the expectations of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core and the selfless support of the Jiangsu people.
On behalf of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, Lou Qinjian expressed his congratulations on the historic achievements of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. He also expressed his gratitude to the Party Committee Government and the Corps of the Autonomous Region for their support to the officials sent by Jiangsu to Xinjiang for the paired assistance program.
He said that Xinjiang has undergone tremendous changes since the 18th CPC National Congress, as is evidenced by the harmonious and stable social situation, the vigorous economic development and the improved living standards in Xinjiang, adding that these achievements have demonstrated that the correctness of the strategy of governing Xinjiang formulated by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core and the autonomous regional party committee government and the implementation of the CPC Central Committee's decision-making by the Party Committee and government of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
The CPC Jiangsu Provincial Chief remarked that the visit by the Jiangsu delegation is meant to solicit opinions on the further implementation of the province’s paired assistance program in Xinjiang as the work in Xinjiang is a matter of great concern to the country’s overall development and the realization of the "Two One-hundred-year goals" and "China Dream" of great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Lou Qinjian said Jiangsu has made phased progress in the implementation of the paired assistance program in Xinjiang, adding that the province will in the new era adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping's new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, implement the Party Central Committee's strategy of governing Xinjiang, further focus on poverty alleviation, help Xinjiang strengthen infrastructure and characteristic industries, and make due contributions to boosting long-term stability in Xinjiang.
Lou pointed out that Jiangsu and Xinjiang are both important provincial level regions along the "Belt and Road" and the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is also our shared opportunity.
He hoped that the two regions will promote all-round and multi-level cooperation over wider areas on the basis of the paired assistance program in Xinjiang so as to promote the exchange and cooperation to a new level.
Shohrat Zakir and Sun Jinlong briefed the symposium on the stabilized development and the progress of Jiangsu’s paired assistance program in Xinjiang.
Ma Qiulin, vice governor of Jiangsu, briefed the participants on the social and economic development in Jiangsu and the province’s implementation of the paired assistance program in Xinjiang.
