The School of Physical Science and Technology at Yangzhou University created an online flurry after its admission letter required each freshman student to answer a math question before accessing full information on a campus roadmap.
The innovative circuit diagram included in the admission letter was inspired by attractions and roads in the university’s Slender West Lake Campus, with barriers set up at some key points. Students need to solve the problem by applying their knowledge of electrical circuits and math or they can’t acquire the complete information and will have difficulties exploring every corner of the campus.
Liu Jianglan, an undergraduate student at the school, designed the question, noting that thinking carefully and applying electrical circuit and calculus knowledge can easily tackle the problem.
The school has prepared USB flash drives made with 3D printing technology as gifts for the first 20 students who provide the right answers.
