On July 17, 11:18 P.M., accompanied by family, medical staff and the Red Cross human organ donation coordinator, Philippine friend Abear Wilbert entered the operating room. People on the spot held solemn farewell party for him. At 11:23 P.M., Abear Wilbert stopped his breath. The doctor in charge announced the death. However, a pair of his kidneys, his heart, and a liver of his will be transplanted into 4 Chinese who have kidney problems, with two of his corneas bringing eyesight to two Chinese patients with ocular diseases. This becomes the first instance in Taizhou for foreigner to become a human organ donator.

The unfortunate thing happened on the evening of July 6th. Mrs. Li, the wife of Abear Wilbert, recalled that her husband drove alone to other places in the country to run some errands. “When he was in Taizhou and I was chatting with him, the voice on the other end of the phone suddenly disappeared……”
Mrs. Li called the police without hesitation to seek help from it. Via the tracking, the police found that Abear Wilbert’s car stopped on the emergency lane of the highway, with Abear being unconscious because of his sudden cerebral hemorrhage. After two salvage surgeries, doctors discovered Abear to have the sign of brain death.
On July 17th, 6P.M., Mrs. Li signed on the Organ Donation Registration Form after gaining the consent from family members. She decided to donate Abear Wilbert’s usable organs to save people.
“Not only does it realize the dream of my husband, but it lets his life to continue, lets his love remain in his loved China”. Mrs. Li told the journalist that she hopes her husband to live in another way after his death—by donating organs. This is also what her husband had discussed with her when he was alive.
