The General Office of the Provincial Government has issued the “Central and Long-term General Airport Layout Plan of Jiangsu Province”, which required the establishment of a general airport layout system that meets the needs of economic and social development, boasts a comprehensive public service function, and reflects the industrial characteristics of Jiangsu for the making of a strong aviation province.
At present, the province has built 10 general airports including Nanjing Laoshan, Shifo Temple, Huaxi, Yangmiao, Suzhou Weiting, Zhenjiang Dalu, Qidong Heliport, Taizhou Chunlan, Jianhu and Sheyang.
Construction is underway for the building of Xinyi and Liyang general airports which will rank first in East China in terms of quantity and density.
According to the plan, by 2035, there will be 35 general airport layouts in the province and about 70 long-term layouts.
In principle, the general airport used for seasonal or temporary take-off and landing can be set up in important hospitals, schools, important tourist attractions, important transportation hubs, key waters and other places to support the construction of the general aviation emergency rescue network in the province.
A hierarchical layout of "10+60" is formed, of which 10 are regional-level general airports and 60 are regional-level general airports. The airport density reaches 3-4 per 10,000 square kilometers, achieving a 15-minute voyage covering the entire province.
