  Tourism administrations at all levels in Jiangsu received a total of 882 tourist complaints in the second quarter of this year, an increase of 31.45% over the same period last year. 666 complaints were filed against travel agencies, making up 75.51% of all the complaints.

  The Zhenjiang Tourism Commission received a complaint lodged by some tourists about contract disputes. Due to the volcanic eruption in Bali, the tourists filed a petition with the travel agency to dismiss the contract. According to the law, the group should refund the balance to the tourists after deducting the necessary expenses. However, the travel agency failed to perform. After mediation, the travel agency refunded the tourists according to the terms of the contract.

  In addition to contract disputes, liability complaints is the largest in the complaints lodged against travel agencies, involving the reduction of grade standards, unauthorized increase or decrease of tourism items, unsuccessful duties of tour guides, and delayed or changed schedules.

  Up to now, 871 cases of complaints lodged in the second quarter have been handled with compensation rewarded to 476 cases, totaling nearly 500,000 yuan.
