Blasting was made Wednesday on the crossover tower of the Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge in Zhenjiang city, marking the opening of the last level of the clearing of the 12.5-meter deep-water channel in the downstream of the Yangtze River.
The low level of the 51-year-old 220 kV Wufengshan cross-river line affects the construction of national key projects of the 12.5-meter deep-water channel in the downstream of the Yangtze River and demands upgrading.
At 10:18 in the morning, the two crossover towers were successfully blasted. This blasting and removal has a high difficulty factor and a high risk. To this end, the State Grid Jiangsu Branch joined hands with the local government, waterway administration, and blasting construction units to have developed a careful plan to ensure the successful completion of the blast.
After the blasting, the State Grid Jiangsu Branch will build a new cross-river line at the original site, and the transmission capacity will be more than three times higher than the original, better meeting the needs of the north-south power transmission. The overall project is expected to be completed in December.
