It finally comes!
On July 9th, 2018, 2018 World Fencing Championships Press Conference was held.
2018 World Fencing Championships will be held in Wuxi from July 19th to 27th! 2018 World Fencing Championships is the greatest and highest-standard competition in the International Fencing Federation(FIE), and is the highest level of fencing in addition to the Olympic Games. Not only is this the highest-standard fencing competition for China to hold for the first time, but amongst the international competitions that Wuxi has hosted in the past years, this one enjoys the participation from the greatest number of foreign athletes, with the highest standard.
Championships’ logo and championships’ mascot’s release
This year’s championships have 9 days for competitions, with a cycle of 12 days. During the championships, the FIE Technical Committee Conference and the FIE Officers Conference will be held. This year’s championships have a total of 12 fields including individual epee for males and females, individual sabre for males and females, individual foil for males and females, group epee for males and females, group sabre for males and females, and group foil for males and females.
The Championships’ main venue is set in Wuxi New Sports Center
According to the sign-up information, there are 108 national or regional representative teams and 1370 athletes and attendant staff to join the Championships, with almost 160 FIE appointed officers, referees, FIE Governance Committee members, the Championships’ Technical Committee members, Chinese Fencing Association members, and suppliers to join the Championships.

Composed with the initials of Wuxi’s spelling, the logo fuses the abstract shape of old buildings and modern designs, which not only demonstrates the heaviness of Wuxi’s history, but also the unremitting pursuit of Wuxi’s people to construct a “strong, wealthy, beautiful, and high” new Wuxi.

Designed based on the model of the famous Wuxi Huishan clay dolls, this logo fully demonstrates the richness of Wuxi’s historical and cultural heritage and a positive fighting spirit in the new era.

Using the blueness of Lake Tai as the background color, in the picture, two fencing players are undergoing a fierce competition. Not only does the poster preserve the aesthetic conception of traditional posters, it also mixes the momentary experience of the digital media transmissions. The poster organically combines the fighting spirit of the fencing sport with the warmth at the lakeside of Lake Tai and the endeavor of modern construction of the city.
Wuxi beats Japan’s Fukuoka The glory of holding the Championship belongs to regions south of the Yangtze River
The voting statistics on the scene
As early as 2015, in the FIE’s Representative Conference, Wuxi beat his rival Fukuoka from Japan with a voting statistic of 64:47 and gained the right to host 2018 World Fencing Championships! Wuxi has also become the first city in China to host world fencing championships.

As for now, the work concerning the tickets of the championship has already started. To enable more townspeople to view and admire the wonderful world championships at their doors, the organizing committee will set a certain amount of 10-yuan civilian-benefiting tickets.
