167200 housing units were reconstructed in the rundown urban areas across the province in the first half of this year, accomplishing 98.38% of the annual tasks, local sources said Monday.
Reconstruction on 188800 shanty town housing units got started in the first half of this year, fulfilling 87.83% of the annual tasks assigned to Jiangsu by the central government.
Urban housing security family rental subsidies were distributed to 17953 households, accomplishing 163.21% of the annual target tasks of 11,000 households.

According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the government invested 1.48 trillion yuan in 2016 to build 6.06 million new homes for shantytown redevelopment, 60,000 more than last year's target. In 2015, the number was 6.01 million.
