As the regular event of introducing and promoting the beauty of Jiangsu, ‘Foreigners’ View of Jiangsu’ in July of 2018 brings international friends from various countries to embrace a land of culture – Hailing District of Taizhou City. Over 30 foreigners from 16 countries were invited last weekend to experience the allure of traditional culture in Taizhou. Take a look!
The launch ceremony of this event was held on Saturday morning with leaders giving speeches to introduce Hailing District of Taizhou. Besides officials from provincial and local government, foreign representatives also expressed their excitement and looked forward to learning about the history and culture of Hailing.
As the hometown of Peking Opera master Mei Lanfang, Hailing has a Mei Lanfang Memorial Museum called Meiyuan Garden. Foreign friends enjoyed watching Peking Opera and were quite interested in learning some of the classic gestures of Peking Opera.
After that, they visited Qiaoyuan Garden and Xuezheng Imperial Examination Court. They were amazed by the exquisite garden and the special examination mode in ancient times.
On Sunday, they had a wonderful day in Taishan Park which was full of Intangible Cultural Heritages of Hailing. Different kinds of folk customs and cultures brought joy and impressive memories to these foreigners.
Hailing, located in the center of Jiangsu Province, has a population of over 400,000 and covers an area of almost 240 square kilometers. As one of the major urban areas of Taizhou, Hailing has a history of 2,100 years and demonstrates its unique graceful charm. The beauty of Hailing lies in its green water and beautiful scenery, lively culture, modern industry and also in its simple custom.
