Governor Wu Zhenglong met last Friday with South Korean Minister of Environment Kim Eun-kyung in Nanjing and witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Environmental Protection and the Korean Ministry of Environment.
Wu Zhenglong welcomed Kim Eun-kyung’s first visit to Jiangsu. He said that in recent years, Jiangsu has attached importance to ecological civilization construction while maintaining sustained and healthy economic development, adding that the province’s overall environmental quality has remained stable and the main indicators have clearly improved.
The economic and trade exchanges between Jiangsu and South Korea have yielded fruitful results and the environmental cooperation has been fruitful, the governor said, adding that Jiangsu will continue to open up to the outside world and continue to support the development of Korean companies in Jiangsu.
Wu also noted that Jiangsu will use the Memorandum of Understanding signed as an opportunity to further strengthen the exchange of environmental protection policies and deepen environmental protection technologies and industrial cooperation for reference, mutual benefit and win-win so as to better benefit the people of the two sides.
Kim Eun-kyung said that South Korea and Jiangsu share many similarities in their development, adding that environmental protection is an important area of cooperation between the two sides.
He pledged that the ROK will actively guide South Korean companies to participate in the environmental protection industry in Jiangsu, jointly carry out technological research, improve the normal exchange and docking mechanism, and enhance both parties’ environmental protection and governance.
