Ding Zhongli, vice chairman of the standing committee of the National People’s Congress, headed a law enforcement inspection team to inspect the implementation of the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law in Jiangsu Province.
The inspection team was briefed by the provincial government and competent departments on the implementation of the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law in Jiangsu. Chen Zhenning, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, presided over the meeting. Deputy governor Miao Ruilin gave a special report.
Ding Zhongli spoke highly of the work and achievements made by Jiangsu Province in implementing the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law though Jiangsu still faces daunting tasks in the prevention and control of atmospheric pollution.
He stressed that it is necessary to strengthen study and publicity of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important idea of ecological civilization construction to make it deeply rooted in people’s minds, and lay a solid foundation for the whole society to do a good job in air pollution prevention and control work.
More efforts should be made to give full play to the advantages of Jiangsu in various aspects and strive to take the lead in the country in terms of ecological environmental protection and construction work, and play a demonstration role, the NPC vice chairman said.
The inspection team visited some districts and counties in Xuzhou, Zhenjiang and Nanjing to learn about the implementation of the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law and solicited opinions from the communities.
