East China’s Jiangsu province has made headway in the past 4 decades in the promotion of opening up and reform through continuous efforts to emancipate the mind and promote high quality development.
At the recently concluded 2018 China Kunshan Brand Products Import Fair, more than 300 companies from 15 countries and regions around the world brought a variety of advanced technologies and cutting-edge products. 36000 participants attended the 3-day exhibition, setting a new high.
As the country's first professional import trading platform, the Kunshan Brand Products Import Fair has attracted more than 4,000 companies from five continents in the world since its inception in 2012 with more than 300,000 professional visitors attending the exhibition, building an exhibition platform for international brands and providing a broad market for quality products.
From the initial processing trade to taking the initiative to expand exports, Jiangsu has realized a huge change of the trade mode that reflects the growth and self-confidence of an open province, and the sharing of reform and opening up development achievements between Jiangsu and the world by seeking economic globalization and cooperation and win-win.
Statistics show that in 2017, Jiangsu's total import amounted to 154.149 billion yuan, a growth rate of 22.6% and a huge leap compared with 1978.
In addition to direct import expansion, in recent years, Jiangsu has continued to relax the market access, optimize the business environment, and increase foreign investment. From manufacturing to service and finance, from southern Jiangsu to Central Jiangsu to northern Jiangsu, a series of measures for opening up and reform are making the province open its door wider and wider with in-depth development reported in various fields.
The provincial government’s executive meeting has approved the “Opinions on Enhancing the Quality and Efficiency of Foreign Investment”, laying forth specific details concerning further relaxing market access, improving the level of investment and trade facilitation, and opening up channels for foreign talents to start up businesses in the province.
Along the 40-year track of reform and opening up, Jiangsu has left distinct mark and records on each step of its opening-up and reform. Since 2003, the province has topped the national ranking in the use of foreign capital. In 2017, the province’s import and export exceeded 4 trillion yuan, maintained the second place in the country for 15 consecutive years. At the same time, the average annual growth rate of foreign investment stood at nearly 30%, giving rise to the new pattern of mutual openness and mutual benefit.
