Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and chairman of the Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee went on an inspection tour on Tuesday to the Provincial Higher Court and the Provincial Higher Procuratorate where he emphasized that the courts and procuratorates at all levels in the province must study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics for the new era, steer the political direction, take bold efforts in emancipating the mind, and plan, think about and promote work of courts and procuratorates in the overall situation of the province.
The courts and procuratorates at all levels in the province should make greater efforts to systematically promote various reforms, safeguard the interests of the country, the public interest, and the legitimate rights and interests of the people so as to ensure that the province’s high-quality development rank among the best in the country, he said.
When visiting the command center of the provincial court, Lou Qinjian learned about the construction and implementation of the information promotion at courts in the province by looking into a large screen. He spoke highly of the effectiveness of the construction of the “wisdom court,” emphasizing that it is necessary to safeguard fairness and justice through the trial system, and help government departments improve their work by handling cases.
At a briefing on the work of the provincial higher court, Lou demanded that courts at all levels in the province should study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era by enhancing the Four Consciousnesses and giving full play to the socialism with Chinese characteristics in all aspects of the judicial work.
The CPC provincial chief said the courts at all levels in the province should take the initiative to serve the overall situation, break through the traditional mindset, give full play to the their functional role, strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights, standardize the market economic order, and promote the province’s construction of the Belt and Road, boost the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and provide legal escort for the progress of the three tough battles that include forestalling and defusing major risks, targeted poverty alleviation and pollution control.
It is necessary to keep in mind the purpose of serving the people, safeguarding social fairness and justice, deepening judicial reforms, focusing on issues such as ensuring the protection of the rights and interests of the people, the evil forces in some localities at the grass-roots level, the judicial efficiency that the people have complained about, and the credibility of the public so as to intensify our efforts to allow the common people to feel fairness and justice in every case, said the Provincial Party secretary.
When visiting the provincial procuratorate, Lou Qinjian learned about the functional performance of the prosecutor’s office and spoke to the case-handling robots. He also spoke highly of the progress the provincial procuratorate has made in the handling of cases through technical innovation and supervision.
He hoped that the procuratorates at all levels in the province will actively adapt to the new requirements of the new era, base themselves on a new historical position, take the social attention as the focus of their work, and advance with the times to fulfill their duties given by the new mission.
Lou Qinjian emphasized that strong legal protection is the basis for the advancement of high-quality development and that all efforts should be made to promote explorative development, innovative development, and leading-edge development.
He noted that the procuratorial organs are representatives of national interests and public interests as they embody the national image and the level of state governance, adding that the procuratorates at all levels in the province must uphold the party’s absolute leadership, persist in unremittingly arming their minds with Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era, and ensure that Xi’s ideology is executed in various procuratorial work, in particular in legal supervision.
The Provincial Party Secretary demanded that greater efforts should be made to highlight the integration of judicial work with economic and social development, protect the vitality of reforms and innovations, safeguard social stability, and participate in special rectification by focusing on the promotion of "six high-quality developments" and promoting the construction of "rule of law" and make greater contribution to the province’s higher quality development.
He also called for greater efforts to crack down on serious criminal offenses, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the people, safeguard fairness and justice, and take more practical measures in implementing the principles of the judiciary for the people.
