East China’s Jiangsu province has effectively implemented relevant policies to promote the development of the logistics industry. The logistics industry in the province has achieved remarkable results in reducing costs and improving efficiency, giving a strong impetus to the promotion of the brick-and-mortar economy.
In view of the advantages of water transportation with a total length of over 24,000 kilometers in the province's inland waterways, since 2017, the province has given 20% and 10% discounts to the transit and water gate fees with the container freight ship free of charge. The annual policy for logistics companies has reduced costs by about RMB 300 million.
At the same time, Jiangsu has further encouraged local logistics enterprises to strengthen their R&D and application of logistics technology equipment. Suning Logistics Group has ensured that the new recyclable logistics packaging can be reused 14 times and further re-use has been made possible by reheating when the device reaches the upper limit.
Recent data show that in 2017, the province's total social logistics reached 27.96 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%. The total cost of social logistics consumed for per million yuan of GDP fell from 1,550 yuan in 2010 to 1,410 yuan in 2017, a drop of 9%.
In February of this year, the province introduced the "Implementation Opinions on Further Improving Logistic Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement to Promote Real Economic Development", and 34 cost reduction and efficiency increase measures will also reduce the logistics cost by more than 3 billion yuan each year.
