  The 7th Pacific Alliance Investment Forum was held Wednesday afternoon in Nanjing. Ambassadors of Columbia, Mexico, Peru, and Chile have made speeches to introduce each country’s trade with China and seek opportunities for more cooperation. Take a look!

  The forum was jointly sponsored by the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Jiangsu Sub-Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Commercial Affairs Office of the embassies and consulates of the four Latin American countries included in the Pacific Alliance.

  Colombia, Mexico, Chile, and Peru’s ambassadors to China were among the officials that attended the forum. Huang Xiqiang, vice-director of the Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, and Cong Sufeng, vice-president of the Jiangsu Sub-Council for the Promotion of International Trade, attended the forum and made opening speeches. Also attended the forum were 120 entrepreneurs from the field of agriculture, new energy, manufacturing and etc.

  The theme of the forum this time is "Integration, Growth and Opportunity", which provides a comprehensive overview of the opportunities for Pacific Alliance member countries to cooperate with enterprises in Jiangsu in agriculture, natural resources and manufacturing.

  The forum was divided into 3 sectors – “Agribusiness opportunities” led by the ambassador of Peru to China; “Business opportunities in manufacture” led by the ambassador of Mexico to China; and “business opportunities in new energy” led by the ambassador of Chile to China. Representatives of the 4 countries have stood on the stage to introduce their countries’ advantages and possible business projects that might be reached in each sector.

  The Pacific Alliance is an economic and cooperative integration mechanism that was founded in Peru in 2011. Currently, the alliance includes 4 member countries – Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. In 2016, the combined GDP of the Pacific Alliance member countries represented 39% of the total for Latin America and the Caribbean, which placed it as the 8th largest economy in the world.

  In 2017, the total volume of foreign trade between Jiangsu and the four countries exceeded $12 billion, accounting for 10.6% of China's total trade with the four countries. Up to now, Jiangsu has set up 52 enterprises in the four countries with a cumulative investment of 660 million USD.
