The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be held from August 31st to September 15th in eight cities of China - Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Foshan and Dongguan.

As one of the eight zones, Nanjing is expected to hold 10 matches at Youth Olympics Sports Park.

Although it’s still 500 days away from the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the 2018 Mini World Cup has been initiated in an attempt to get more young people into the game of basketball.

The mini-World Cup competition takes the form of 3*3 basketball games that teenagers prefer. 3*3 basketball is a new sports event based on five-player basketball. Because the game requires smaller space, less people, it is soon spreading in China.

In 2014, the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games saw 3*3 basketball become the Youth Olympic Games for the first time.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics also included 3*3 basketball in the new official Olympic games.

The 2017 mini-World Cup drew more than 80 elementary and middle school basketball teams from Nanjing to participate.

The 2018 mini-World Cup will continue last year's theme, with participants spreading from schools, high schools to universities and other social groups.

From April to September this year, the mini-World Cup will organize a series of events through "Basketball Enters Campus" campaign. It will also set up campus basketball league, hold “CBA star meet the fans” on campus, and charity activities that sell basketball-related products, in order to attract more people to know the 2019 Basketball World Cup. The final competition will be held from September 15 to 16.
