More than 600 jobs and internships were offered by 55 companies at a job fair hosted in Xi’an Jiaotong-liverpool University Wednesday afternoon.

About 90 percent of graduating students from Xi’an Jiaotong-liverpool University choose to study abroad for their master's degree and Ph.D. degree. Most of the students who came to the scene Wednesday were juniors seeking internships.

Thomas, a sophomore from Italy, was very confident that he would sure get a good offer for his expertise in programming.

Clarissa Himawan, a junior from Indonesia, said that she could further improve her Chinese language skills when getting into an internship.

The employers were mainly foreign-funded enterprises, English-training institutions and international schools. They came to Xi’an Jiaotong-liverpool University for the English level and international vision of the students. Wang Zhengfei, director of human resources at Guanghua Education Group, said that most of the students at the University were well-informed and outgoing, which is in line with the company's corporate culture.

Assistant Manager Luo Bing, Human Resources Manager of Sika (China) Co., Ltd., has participated in campus recruitment several times. He also pointed out the shortcomings of the University: "Compared with new college graduates from other universities, the graduates from this university may not have an advantage in the academic study of their field and need to make it up when they enter the workplace."

It’s worth mentioning that different from other job fairs, English was the only language employers and employees spoke to communicate.
