The provincial government convened a meeting on the promotion of the construction of the Belt and Road to review and approve the Key Points for the Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative for Jiangsu Province in 2018. Governor Wu Zhenglong presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.
Wu Zhenglong emphasized that the province must adhere to the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and implement the spirit of the important speeches made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the Belt and Road initiative and the important instructions for the work of Jiangsu so as to fulfill the various tasks by taking advantage of the province’s role of being the junction of the Belt and Road campaign and ensure that the province’s high quality development ranks among the best in the country.
Wu Zhenglong pointed out that the Belt and Road initiative is a major strategic plan put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping and also a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee in a new historical position and hence of epoch-making significance.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening up. The important keynote speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the 2018 annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia pointed to the direction and injected a strong impetus for us to open up again and expand and deepen reforms, the governor said.
Wu Zhenglong stressed that we must build a path of peace, prosperity, openness, innovation, and civilization to implement responsibilities and strengthen measures to promote the province’s role of being the junction of the Belt and Road campaign in the new era and build a new pattern for opening up to the outside world. .
The governor remarked that it is necessary to strengthen strategic research, focus on outstanding weaknesses in the construction of the Belt and Road, plan well-targeted policies and measures, focus on promoting connectivity and interoperability of facilities, promote the improvement of efficiency of China-EU freight trains, strengthen the linkage of river, land and sea.
He also demanded that the province should focus on promoting international capacity cooperation, adhere to the combination of going global and introducing, accelerate the construction of cooperative industrial parks, achieve mutual advantages and mutual benefits, and strive to expand economic and trade and cultural exchanges by building new platforms, opening up new channels and promoting economic integration.
Wu also called on the province to step up the efforts to strengthen the construction of cities along the Belt and Road route, boost opening up to the outside world, striving to achieve the connectivity of policies, infrastructure, trade, finance and people.
