Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, went on an inspection tour last Wednesday to some Jiangsu-based research institutes under the director administration of the central government.
Wu pointed out during the inspection tour that development is the most important task, talent is the primary resource and innovation is the primary driving force so that the advantages of scientific research institutes will be brought into full play.
Wu urged more efforts to be made to promote the integration of production, education and research with the transformation of technological achievements, accelerate the conversion of old and new kinetic energy, better serve local economic development, and strive to be the "most powerful brain" in promoting high quality development in Jiangsu.
When visiting the CSIRI 724th Institute, Wu Zhenglong made inquiry into the product performance and application before being briefed on Smart Ocean project. He hoped that the breakthrough in the industrialization of high-tech achievements in the CSIRI 724th Institute will serve the needs of the country’s strategy, and make greater contributions to industrial transformation and upgrading and the construction of high-quality coastal economic belts.
In the 14th Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, Wu Zhenglong encouraged the researchers to demonstrate the role of major research institutes in the development of Jiangsu and strive to become a leader in high-quality development, adding that the 14th institute should be centered on demand-oriented and industrialization by turning the advantages into actual productive forces so as to help transform Jiangsu manufacturing into Jiangsu intelligent manufacturing and become a major manufacturing powerhouse.
The governor also visited the Tiexinqiao Base of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute to learn about the construction and operation of the Yangtze River shipping channel and the urban river environment improvement.
He demanded that greater efforts should be made to give full play to the advantages of research institutes, use high-quality technology to eliminate water damage, promote water conservancy, and preserve ecology.
When visiting the Nanjing Institute of Soil Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wu Zhenglong discussed with researchers on such issues as soil pollution control and soil fertility conservation. He said that the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy and pollution control cannot be separated from the scientific and technological innovation in the soil sector. He hoped that the Institute will provide more new technologies for people’s income growth and ecological protection and restoration.
The governor said it is necessary to implement various talents policies so that the vitality of innovations can be fully expressed by pooling strength, improving mechanisms, and optimizing the environment.
He also called on more supports to be given to leading enterprises and advantageous industries so as to better promote the deep integration of industrial chains, innovation chains, and value chains in a bid to build world-class industrial clusters and promote the development of the most competitive and most advantageous fields from plateau to peak.
