  The Jiangsu delegation to the 13th National People's Congress held a meeting Saturday to review the work reports of the Supreme Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate delivered at the ongoing annual session of the NPC.

  Among the top leaders attending the meeting were Lou Qinjian, head of the Jiangsu delegation, secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress, Wu Zhenglong, deputy head of the delegation, deputy secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial Governor.

  Wang Like and Long Xiang stated during the deliberation that in the past five years, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the national law inspection system has vigorously promoted the reform of the judicial system, fully played its functional role, and resolutely defended the country’s political security. We will actively safeguard economic and social development, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the people, and provide a strong judicial guarantee for building a well-to-do society in an overall way.

  Xia Daohu and Liu Hua said in their speeches that the work reports of the Supreme Court and the Procuratorate held high the banner of serving the people, demonstrating the importance of the judicial systems adherence to the people-oriented approach and the promotion of legal inspection work in the past five years.

  Chen Jingyu and Wang Qin endorsed the speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during the deliberation of the Guangdong delegation that development is the top priority, talent is the primary resource, and innovation is the primary driving force. It is necessary to increase punitive damages for malicious infringement and better protect the legitimate rights and interests of those who make innovations, they argued.

  Li Qing and Ge Daokai proposed that measures should be taken to bring into play the advantages of legal education and scientific research in universities, serve the socialist legal construction, speed up the process of legislation on cyber security, improve the legal supervision measures, and resolve cyber risks.

  Yu Ruiyu, Shi Lijun, and Yan Shengda said that we must earnestly carry out special measures to tackle corruption and work style issues in the process of poverty alleviation. They recommended that the integration of judicial work with economic and social development should be identified, judicial protection must be strengthened, and all types of criminal activities should be severely cracked down in accordance with the law. The misappropriation and embezzlement of poverty alleviation payments should be severely punished.

  The first session of the 13th National People's Congress held a plenary meeting Friday to hear work reports from the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

  Chief Justice Zhou Qiang and Procurator-General Cao Jianming delivered the reports at the meeting.
