The 90-minute documentary Amazing China that reviews the country's comprehensive development over the past five years has already become China’s second highest-grossing documentary behind Twenty Two, a feature highlighting the plight of the country's 'comfort women', which earned around 25 million USD in China last year.
The movie has made about 125 million yuan or around 19.7 million USD at the box office since opening in cinemas on March 2nd.
From the Fuxing high-speed train to China’s first indigenously-designed large passenger aircraft C919, many of the projects in Amazing China are related to Jiangsu. Here’s a look at some of the Jiangsu elements in Amazing China.
Nanjing Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge is the world's first six-lane railway bridge, which is also known as the world's greatest railway bridge. Meanwhile, it’s design load is also the largest in the world so far.
Speaking of the bridge, Song Yiqiang and Wang Xuan, both constructors of the bridge, always have special bond to the bridge. When they learned that the film will include the Nanjing Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge, they went into the cinema to watch.
Wang Xuan, an engineer of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, said: "When I saw the details of the bridge on the screen, which is exactly like when we constructed the bridge, I was very excited and proud. What you do might be just a tiny part of a big project, but it is absolutely indispensable of our great nation."
Song Yiqiang, deputy chief engineer of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, said: "When I saw the details of the bridge on the screen, I was very excited. Especially as someone who participated the construction, I feel really proud."
