China and Israel launched a health emergency cooperation program in Yangzhou City on Feb. 22, with Yangzhou-based Subei People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province chosen as the demonstration base.

Israel enjoys rich experiences in preparing for public health emergencies, such as emergency preparedness policy-making, emergency services at community hospitals, control and command mechanism, materials and supply chain management, training and drills.

Under the program, the Yangzhou hospital will partner with several Israeli medical institutes, cohost health forums, establish a network of allied hospitals, promote the collaboration in traditional Chinese medicine as well as elderly care industry, improve the cooperation level and create a win-win situation.

The emergency preparedness program is one of the areas under the broader healthcare cooperation agreement between two countries. During the third meeting of the China-Israel Joint Committee on Innovation Cooperation in March last year, the Israeli Ministry of Health and Chinese Hospital Association signed a memorandum of understanding on healthcare cooperation, choosing Subei People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province as a base to introduce, apply and demonstrate the program.
