While millions of migrant workers struggle to make ends meet in China's cities, many people are bucking the trend and returning to their rural hometowns to start their own businesses thanks to government initiatives.

Job fairs were organized in Suqian, Huai’an, Yancheng and many other places in Jiangsu to offer job for thousands of migrant workers who returned home for the annual family reunion.

Qin Lei, who used to be working in big cities, was visiting the job fair for the hope of landing a job in the hometown.

More than 500 employers offered nearly 58100 jobs for the home-coming migrant workers.

Online sales, customer service and other e-commerce positions accounted for 12.3% of the vacancies at the job fair. There are also nearly 1,000 new jobs in new material research and development, information technology and laser industries, providing diversified jobs for all kinds of talents and home-coming migrant workers.

Social security and human resources departments in Lianshui County and Binhai County launched job fairs in the rural areas to offer jobs for the home-coming migrant workers. The preferential policies prompted many job-seekers to make up their decision to get hired in the hometown rather than venturing elsewhere.

A job fair for people with disabilities was launched in Siyang County. Xue Chuanlei, 38, is a man from Hezhuang Village, Linhe Town, Siyang County. He is suffering from limb disability. Due to the inconvenience of walking, he has been unemployed for many years. This time he was trying his luck when he was informed of the job opportunities at the job fair.

Five companies provided more than 80 jobs for people with disabilities, such as packers, warehouse clerks, and numerical control, to meet the various employment needs of people with disabilities. On the day of the job fair, 32 persons with disabilities and employers reached their initial employment intention.
