Right before the arrival of the Lunar New Year Spring Festival, Lou Qinjian, secretary of the provincial party committee, recently visited the needy people, the senior party members and the rural nursing homes when going on an inspection tour in Lianyungang city.
Lou stressed the need to implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on Jiangsu's work so as to identify the problems and challenges for the promotion of the all-inclusive universal livelihood projects and the improvement of people’s life.
During the first leg of his visit, Lou Qinjian greeted Fang Jiazhu, a needy resident in Renzhuang Village, Ganyu District, Lianyungang City, before inquiring about the difficulties he and his family had encountered.
When informed that the elderly couple in their sixties have no fixed income and could hardly make ends meet, the CPC provincial chief conveyed his greetings on behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government before urging local authorities to pay heed to the life of the needy people through the provision of subsistence allowances and take measures to improve their standard of living.
Zhang Xinming, a property management worker, is hard up and his daughter is attending a college. Lou encouraged him to build up his confidence as the party and government organizations will try their best to offer him a helping hand.
During his visit, Lou Jianjian emphasized that it is necessary to focus on the issue of poverty alleviation through the establishment of a more practical and pragmatic support mechanism to address the actual situation of poverty caused by illness and disasters and make sure that no one will be left behind in the strive for a well-off society.
Wang Gongqun, an ex-serviceman, lives an impoverished life as he and his wife have no fixed income. Lou Qinjian encouraged him to have confidence in the party and the government and work hard for a better life.
The CPC Provincial chief also visited the single or widowed seniors at a nursing home in Qinkou town of Ganyu district where he showed satisfaction at the complete facilities that ensure the seniors with a comfortable life.
Respect for the elderly is the fine traditions of the Chinese nation, he said, adding that in the process of promoting the high-quality development of people's life, we must make every effort to improve the facilities and conditions in rural pension centers and give full play to their positive role in social pension so that more rural residents can enjoy comfortable and convenient pension services and feel the warmth of the party and government.
