An Chinese New Year exhibition was staged Thursday afternoon in Nanjing to usher in the Spring Festival holiday for people in Jiangsu. It is the fourth year for the activity to be staged right before the arrival of the spring festival. Nearly 200 works were exhibited, covering different art categories such as art, calligraphy, photography and folklore, depicting the great practice of building a new Jiangsu. At the opening ceremony, calligraphers presented calligraphy and painting works to Wang Zeshan, a professor from Nanjing University of Science and Technology and 10 other scientists to thank them for their outstanding contributions to the economic and social development and progress of science and technology in the province. Wang, winner of China's top science award this year, is known as China's Alfred Nobel for his contributions to the study of gunpowder.
