Up to Feb 7, the Spring Festival travel rush has entered the 7th day. The passenger flow of Nanjing Railway keeps rising, mainly by migrant workers and part of the family visits. More train trips are offered to release the coming pressure.
Railways: Some long-distance lines face great challenge, ready to welcome traffic peak by Feb 10
10: 00 a.m. on Feb 7th, the waiting room on the 2nd floor of Nanjing Railway Station. Long queues had been formed by waiting passengers to go through the security check, and many of the migrant workers were lining up to board the train. Having toiled away for a year, they felt so happy to go home.
Besides migrant workers, some other working persons who took an early holiday were bringing their families and children for family visits and reunion.
According to sources, the average daily passenger flow at Nanjing Railway Station reaches about 160,000 to 170,000. Family-visiting passengers and home-returning passengers make up the majority. A traffic peak is expected to start from Feb 10 by short-distance travelers.
More coaches to release the pressure on middle-and-short distance road travel
From the ticket booking, we can tell that the remaining tickets from Nanjing to Yunnan and Guizhou direction, Zhengzhou and Xi'an direction, Wuhan and the north-east China direction are relatively few; while those to Zhejiang direction, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and other directions are still in larger numbers. About the road trips, the passenger flow in Nanjing Xiaohongshan Terminal is still increasing these two days, mainly by medium-and-short distance travelers in the province. So far, almost all the train shifts are fully occupied and part of the lines have already started to work overtime.
With the approach of the Spring Festival, the cross-provincial super-long-distance train tickets have been sold to some provinces with insufficient capacity for railway transport, which can be booked by Feb 9. More frequency of trains to Xi’an, Hanzhong and Changsha direction will be increased, offering convenience for passengers to return home or transfer.
