A college graduate has launched his business startup from developing micro penjing to help boost the rural revitalization campaign. Let’s take a close look.
The micro penjing developed by Liu Xiaofei has turned hot as the Chinese New Year is approaching. Liu has therefore been kept busy with preparing, packing and delivering the penjing with the daily order rising to 2000 pots.
Liu started a penjing landscape store in his village shortly after graduating from the college.
Penjing, also known as penzai, is the ancient Chinese art of depicting artistically formed trees, other plants, and landscapes in micro.
The micro penjing are no larger than the size of a fist and the sophisticated ideas make them appealing to many customers.
Liu spent half a year learning from the master penjing technicians and acquired the skills for developing more than 300 kinds of micro penjing through his hard work.
It was not long before he was granted a patent for his micro penjing.
He went on to cash in on the Internet plus strategy by promoting his QR code to enable the customers to place the orders on their smart phones.
The creative ideas helped his business to grow with the volume of direct sales and online sales hitting 30 million yuan and 15 million yuan in the first year of his business startup.
Liu did not feel contented though. He launched a maker space seminar to share his wealth making story with the farmers and set up a cooperative for the establishment of an industrial chain for the sales of micro penjing.
The cooperative plus micro penjing plus online business has helped more and more farmers to earn their fortune.
In the meantime, the village where Liu is based has come up with a complete industrial chain for the micro penjing business. The village has 162 high and mid-level agronomists and 362 flower brokers while its penjing exports to 11 countries and regions to bring about over 100 million yuan of sales volume each year.
The village has also taken advantage of its penjing business to boost rural tourism by receiving 300000 tourists last year and garnerning nearly 5 million yuan of tourism revenue last year.
