The Pontoon Bridge Brigade is a professional emergency response unit for flood fighting and rescue. After participating in the flood fighting and rescue mission for more than 20 times, the Pontoon Bridge Brigade was repeatedly rated as a unit of military training and achieved fruitful results in various aspects.
Over the years the brigade carried forward its fine traditions and took an active part in the pro-government and loyal activities of ethical and cultural progress, military training for students and national defense education.
In response to this year's rain and snow freezing weather, the brigade took advantage of its professional advantages to protect the normal order of production and people’s life and won wide acclaim from all walks of life.
In his first leg of the tour, Lou visited the canteen of the heavy duty pontoon battalion where the soldiers were busy preparing for the dinner. He conveyed his warm greetings while shaking hands with the soldiers and inquired about the food supply, the routine training and their connections with the family during holidays.
Lou Qinjian was happy to see that the soldiers can enjoy fish and meat at every meal, saying that the soldiers are young men tasked to heavy training and it is necessary to ensure that they eat healthy and nutritious food.
During his visit to the truck company of the battalion, the CPC Provincial chief toured the activity room, the computer room and the quarters.
When visiting the company’s activity room, Lou wished a happy Chinese New Year to the soldiers who were using exercise equipment to exercise their health.
You are far away from your home and your relatives yet making contribution to the building of national defense and the military, and also exerting a lot of hard work and sweat on the development of your second hometown, the CPC provincial chief said.
In one of the dormitories, Lou shook hands with every soldier and asked what they had learned from reading the newspaper.
He hoped that the soldiers would strengthen their theoretical study while conducting military training and truly understand the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era.
During his inspection tour, Lou Qinjian held discussions with the top brass of the Pontoon Bridge Brigade, briefing them on Jiangsu's new progress in economic and social development, and expressed his gratitude to the military’s help and contributions to the province’s achievements.
We will study and understand Xi Jinping's military thinking and the Party's "absolute" leadership over the armed forces, Lou said, adding that Jiangsu will provide firm support to the reform and construction of the armed forces and the military and the people will work together to make further progresses.
