Bixente Lizarazu, a retired footballer who used to play for Bayer Munich, was in Nanjing Friday afternoon and spent some time together with children with autism and cerebral palsy.
The presents he gave to the children include the scarf of Bayer Munich and the football with his autograph.
The children returned him a present, a portrait of Bixente Lizarazu drawn by the children themselves.
Bixente Lizarazu said this is his first time in Nanjing and being able to spend some time together with these children is the happiest moment for him.
He encouraged the children that there is no obstacle that cannot be overcome as long as there is a dream and the spirit of daring to keep on.
Bixente Lizarazu is a retired Basque-French footballer who played for Bordeaux and Bayern Munich, among other teams, as a left-back. He also had 97 caps for the French national team.
In a twelve-year international career from 1992 to 2004, Lizarazu played in three European championships and two World Cups for France, winning the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.
