Zhangjiagang, in Suzhou, Jiangsu province unveiled its customs museum on Jan 30, the first of its kind in the national customs system.

The museum includes six sub-exhibitions featuring displays of world customs history, China customs history, an overview of customs, customs responsibilities, and smart customs.

It integrates visual reality technology, interactive multimedia, holographic projection and animated video to showcase customs history, port management systems, customs agency staff responsibilities, daily work scenes, technology applications and its overall development vision.

The customs museum has many innovations in terms of content and form. Its world customs history section fully presents for the first time the origin of tariffs, the birth and development of customs, and distinctive international management affairs.

Chen Xieping, the director of Zhangjiagang Customs, stated that customs plays a vital role in promoting local economic development and the establishment of the museum gives the public a platform for increased appreciation of that role.
