The 12th Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference or CPPCC kicked off its first session Thursday morning. Deputies of the provincial political advisory body gathered in Nanjing and will give proposals concerning the province’s high quality development in the new era during their terms.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Jiang Dingzhi, chairman of the 11th Provincial Committee of CPPCC, gave a work report on behalf of the Standing Committee of the 11th Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC. The session was presided over by Huang Lixin, deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee.
Lou expressed his congratulations on the opening of the session on behalf of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, adding that the deputies of the CPPCC from all levels of Jiangsu have carried out in-depth studies of President Xi Jinping’s thoughts on CPPCC and made remarkable contributions to the province’s social and economic progress in the past 5 years.
The past five years were the years of unity, democracy, hard work, improvement and development, as is evidenced by the prominent role and remarkable contributions of the 11th Jiangsu Provincial Committee of CPPCC, said Lou.
The provincial CPC chief noted that 2018 marks the beginning of implementing the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress and it is of fundamental significance for us to act in accordance with the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and strengthen the common ideal base of realizing the Chinese Dream.
Lou also stressed the important role of the deputies’ proposals on economic development, party construction and social governance.
Jiang Dingzhi, chairman of the 11th Provincial Committee of CPPCC, said that 2017 witnessed the opening of the 19th CPC National Congress and the conclusion of the 11th Provincial Committee of CPPCC.
He also summed up the experiences of the work of CPPCC Jiangsu Provincial Committee from in the past 5 years.
We must adhere to the leadership of the Communist Party of China, fully understand the role of CPPCC, fulfill our function and serve the overall interest, implement the idea of people-centered development, adhere to the two themes - unity and democracy, highlight the deputies’ role of giving proposals and advice on the province’s overall development, Jiang said.
Jiang offered suggestions to the 12th Jiangsu Provincial Committee of CPPCC before concluding his speech.
