An eleven-member Chinese military medical team departed from Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Wednesday for Zambia to complete their one-year medical assistance mission in the African country.

The eleven military doctors of the 21st Chinese military medical team to Zambia come from three military hospitals under a joint logistics support center of the PLA situated in Wuxi, east China's Jiangsu province.

After arriving in Zambia, they will be based in the General Hospital of the Zambian Defense Force located in the capital Lusaka where they will provide medical services for Zambian military personnel and local people as well as overseas Chinese living in Zambia.

China started to provide medical assistance for Zambia in 1984, and up to now, more than 200 Chinese medical workers have been to the country to provide medical services.
