The city of Suzhou is expecting new growth prospects this year while witnessing remarkable progress in social and economic undertakings last year.
Suzhou is expected to post 1.7 trillion yuan of GDP in 2017, up 7% year on year. Its imports and exports set a historic high last year.
In 2018, Suzhou will improve the quality of supply system as the main direction, promote the industry towards the high-end level, and focus on the layout of a new generation of information technology, biomedicine, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, IoT and other leading industries in a bid to improve the regional innovation system.
The city will step up the efforts for the construction of the Belt and Road Suzhou International Railway Logistics Center and build it into a demonstration city of "Broadband China". It will also promote comprehensive management of water environment in Taihu Lake Basin and Jinji Lake and complete a three-year ecological optimization action plan of the Yangcheng Lake.
Meanwhile, Suzhou will speed up the construction of a modernized industrial city with international competitiveness, openness and inclusive innovation to make it a prosperous, civilized, beautiful and livable city intermingling with the ancient history and culture to take the lead in the province’s social and economic development.
In 2018, the city is expecting its GDP grow 7% year on year with 50 patents registered for every 10000 people while its per capita disposable income will be higher than the GDP growth.
