General Secretary Xi Jinping’s inspection tour to Xuzhou city, Jiangsu province, tops the province’s top ten news stories of 2017. The result was announced Thursday by Xinhua Newspaper and Media Group, Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation, Jiangsu Branch of Xinhua News Agency and jschina.com.cn. The 4th state ceremony for the National Memorial Day for the Nanjing Massacre Victims ranked second on the list. General Secretary Xi Jinping and other top leaders attended the memorial service. Other top news stories of 2017 include the hosting of the inaugural Jiangsu Development Summit and the inclusion of eight Jiangsu cities in the national civilized city campaign. In other top news stores of 2017, scientists at the Purple Mountain Observatory announced that a Chinese satellite, Dark Matter Particle Explorer, also called Wukong or "Monkey King", measured more than 3.5 billion cosmic ray particles with the highest energy up to 100 tera-electron-volts, including 20 million electrons and positrons, with unprecedented high energy resolution.
