East China’s Jiangsu Province and Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan signed an agreement Saturday in Nanjing on the further development of friendly cooperative relations.

Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, met with Hiroshi Ogawa, governor of Fukuoka Prefecture and Akira Higuchi, Chairman of Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly. Wu and Ogawa signed on the agreement.

Wu noted that both sides have achieved fruitful achievements through exchange and cooperation since the establishment of the friendly relations.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the normalization of the diplomatic ties between China and Japan and the 25th anniversary of the twinning relations between Jiangsu and Fukuoka, the governor said.

We are willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation and make new contributions to the development of bilateral relations, said Wu.

We will take the signing of the agreement as an opportunity to strengthen the joint ventures between the two sides, promote exchanges in various fields, and better benefit the people of both sides, the governor said.

Both Ogawa and Higuchi expressed the hope that the signing of the agreement will serve as a new starting point for both sides to promote the friendly relations to a new height.
