The daughter of a Nanjing Massacre survivor traveled to Japan to give a lecture on the atrocities committed by the Japanese troops during their occupation of Nanjing in WWII and called for justice and peace for the mankind.

Lu Ling, daughter of Nanjing Massacre survivor Li Xiuying and Meng Guoxiang, deputy director of Nanjing Massacre History Research Association, visited Japan recently and gave lectures on the heinous crimes committed by the Japanese troops during their occupation of Nanjing.

This was the fourth time for Ms Lu to travel to Japan to give such lectures. This time she wore a blue sweater which her late mother Li Xiuying had worn.

During the Nanjing Massacre, a pregnant woman named Li Xiuying took refuge in the International Safety Zone. On December 19, 1937, Japanese soldiers broke into the campus and killed many civilians. Li was stabbed 37 times and lost consciousness. She was sent to the Drum Tower Hospital where Dr. Robert Wilson treated her.  John Magee took photos of the wounded woman as evidence.

Professor Meng expounded the basic facts of the Nanjing Massacre case in the post-war trial of Japanese war criminals. In his speech, he introduced a great deal of literature and history to show that the Nanjing Military Tribunal’s trial against Japanese war criminals is a public criminal trial of China as a victorious nation.

The lecture was attended by 200 Japanese citizens and lasted more than two hours. Lu, Meng and the Japanese citizens also held a candlelight vigil for the 300,000 massacre victims.
