The memorial activities for the Nanjing Massacre victims were carried out Wednesday morning across the country. In the name of the country, the Chinese people mourned all the victims killed by the Japanese invaders in the first 40 days after Nanjing fell.

The memorial activities were also meant to remember the martyrs and heroes who sacrificed their lives for the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression.

A memorial service was held on China's third-generation ocean-faring surveying ship Yuanwang 6th which was sailing on the Pacific Ocean on its way home after its successful completion of the marine measurement and control for the Algerian communications satellite launched by China. China launched Algeria's first communication satellite, Alcomsat-1, into a preset orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan early Monday.

Memorial activities were also organized in the Iris Chang Memorial Museum in Huai’an city, the Sihong Shuanggou Massacre Memorial Museum and in Xuzhou, Zhenjiang and many other places across the province.

The Peace Declaration was read aloud and candlelight vigils were organized in many parts of the province to mourning the Nanjing massacre victims.
