The test run for the phase I project of Nanjing-Hexian light rail track went underway on December 6th. It is the first light rail track and also the only one of its kind in the country that rides the high-speed railway bridge across the Yangtze River. 19 stations are built along the 36-km subway line that stretches from Nanjing South Railway Station in the south to Gaojiachong in the north. The train runs at a maximum of 100 km per hour with 50 minutes spent on the commuting. The first train service starts at six in the morning and the interval is set at 8 minutes. When this light rail track is put into official operation at the end of this year, Nanjing will see eight subway routes being in service with the operating mileage reaching 294 km. The Nanjing-Hexian light rail track will reach Hexian County in Anhui province when the phase II project is completed in the future.
